New Reports Say Lagos is One of the Worst City in the World; Melbourne is World's Best

Melbourne has been ranked the world’s most liveable city for the sixth year running, following a survey conducted by the intelligence unit of the Economist.

Referred to as Australia’s ‘Cultural Capital’, Melbourne beat Vienna (Austria) to the prestigious award, while Vancouver sits at third place. Toronto (Canada) is fourth, while Adelaide (Australia) and Calgary (Canada) tied for fifth place.

According to the survey, the five least liveable cities were Damascus (Syria), followed by Tripoli (Libya), Lagos (Nigeria), Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea).

It may come as a big surprise to some that Nigeria’s commercial capital falls within the wrong bracket on the list. This is due to a largely inefficient transportation system, crippling power supply and infrastructural/recreational inadequacies.
