147 Dead, 160 Missing as Gunmen Attack Garissa University in Kenya


At least 147 people were killed after al-Shabab militants attacked Garrisa University in North Eastern kenya today. 587 students have been evacuated, 79 students injured while 160 students are still unaccounted for.

According to some victims who survived the attack, the militants were after Christians and once a student admits being a christian, he or she is shot on the spot.


The militants attacked the campus at about 5.30am when most of the students were still sleeping. An overnight curfew is being implemented in parts of the country. Four countries near the Kenya-Somalia border; Garissa, Wajir, Mandera and Tana River would have dusk to dawn curfew imposed.
