NDLEA Arrests Pastor with 1.978kg of Heroin

Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu, have arrested a Lagos-based pastor over drug trafficking. The suspect, Daniel Lanre Akintola, 43, was caught with 1.978kg of heroin concealed in the false bottom of his luggage.

According to Daniel who tried to abandon his luggage and flee when he noticed the men had to recheck his luggage again, but was apprehended however admitted he owns the luggage but said he knows nothing about the 1.9 kilogrammes of heroin found in it.

“I am a pastor with the Gospel Faith Mission International, Olayemi Assembly, Ipaja, Lagos. I attended a ministers’ conference in Uganda. This bag containing heroin is my bag, but I am a pastor and not a drug trafficker,” he said.

When asked to prove if he truly attended the minsters' conference in Uganda as claimed by him, the 43-year old pastor couldn’t prove it. He is presently in the custody of the NDLEA men.
