First lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan yesterday said that the office of the first lady has been an avenue for mobilizing women for mass participation in government, while in Abia state during a reception organised for her by the Ohuhu community, her maternal home in Umuahia North Local Government Area.
Her statements came in after Gen Buhari, the APC presidential aspirant said that he would abolish the office of the First lady, when he becomes the President.
According to Dame Patience;
"There is the Ministry of Women affairs and so on. I was raised by my mother, as I lost my father when i was under 6 years, so I know what a woman can do if given the chance"The First Lady said the bid by politicians from the opposition camp to stop the office of the first lady would amount to sending the Nigerian women back to the kitchen if such came to fruition. She told the women not to vote for any politician who doesn't respect women.
